Pants On for 31!

Well! Last time I wrote Matt was 30 years old. He’s 31 now! A very Happy Birthday to him! He had a good day eating fine foods, opening fine presents and drinking beer. Thanks for all the cards and presents that were sent over. It’s always really cool to get a parcel send from the U.K.

We’ve spent the past week in the usual fashion… working. I did one job at a lovely school who gave me a bottle of Port, a Jar of Honey and some Olives all grown/produced by their students. How lovely! Yom! We’ve started on the olives but still have the port and honey to go. Trying for babies = no alcohol for me anyway.

BBQ Cleaning Time!

Having said that. I may have accidentally sampled some wines on Saturday with Caz and Pete when we popped along to McClaren Vale on Saturday. Picked up some lovely bottles to carry to Spain and not share with friends Sunday was slightly more busy with us officially packing and picking away the garden in readiness for winter. Yes my friends, the BBQ has been scrubbed, oiled and put to rest until the spring time. It’s cold. I mean we’ve had the longest run of days under 15 degrees, in May, in 24 years! 14.5 degrees is no laughing matter! I’m wearing a jumper! The heater’s broken too! bbrrrrrrr.

Gardening in Autumn is very strange here. In the UK, by now, the grass would have stopped growing and everything would be going off for a wintery sleep. Leaves would be falling.. you get the idea. Well, some of the trees might be shedding their leaves by everything else has woken up and is growing like mad. A drop in temperature, caused by having less daylight (and therefore hot sun) to warm everything up, coupled with the most rain we’ve had in 9 years means everything is growing like crazy! I have a massive bowl of lemons and smaller one of tangerines. 4 Oranges and 3 grapefruits in the garden and a whole heap of weeding! On the up side, I guess the garden has the sense to slow down when we do when it’s hot leaving more time for the beach! (yay)

Morning Breakfast at 'The Jetty Cafe' Grange

11:28am Morning!

I’ll try and upload piccies as the day goes on… which for most people will mean that when you get up there will be a day of B’day celebrations to read about

I’ve already got up, had breakfast at the Jetty, opened my pressies and mowed the lawn so my new Hammock stand will look awesome Thank you to everyone who contributed to that one! How exciting! Now I can read my new books whilst swinging from my lovely new wooden frame!! YAY!

Special thanks goes out to Mummy Cow who stayed up until 2:30 this morning (uk time) waiting for me to log on. I, rather rudely i guess, had spent the morning eating at the beach whilst she waited… sorry! I wasn’t expecting anyone to be mad enough! I should have known better

I also recieved a crazy sing along tune from my Sis and her boyf when I woke up this morning. Adam having just realised that my name ended in Ward not Wood and discussing how strange that was in the background – making both the wardens of the wood giggle a little as we marched towards the beach for brekkie!

The port flavoured jelly is now in a nice yellow bowl in the fridge and we’ll be off to see Shrek later. I’ve decided to be 03 instead of 30 today you see; jelly and ice cream will certainly help with that!

Pretty Flowers

Hammock!

The hammock is up! I’ve recieved two lovely bouquets of flowers and an extra B’day card I’ve eaten the

choccies that came with one set! Thanks to Gay, Vicky and Shell and Jill and Jen! Awesome!!
We’re off to see Shrek now! Yay! We’ll be at the 3:15pm showing and we’re watching it in 3D

We’ve been to see Shrek, eaten an enormous slice of my birthday cheesecake…. YES CHEESECAKE!!! YOM! and had some food for dinner. Still haven’t managed to eat the Jelly!! That’ll have to come later! I’ve eaten so many sweet things that if I eat any more I might be sick! YAY

Day one of my birthday weekend – HORSIES!

It’s been sooo long since I rode a horse (no rude jokes please). Matt drove me to Burra yesterday and we went pony trekking. It was really good fun!  Matt’s never been on a horse before and he was given Macaroni to ride; a 25 year old, sleepy, cart horse. He was perfect and was falling asleep when we stopped for refreshments lol.  I had patches, a pony with a penchant for female pony bottom.  He was naughty enough to nip her on the bum a few time! tut tut!

The place is lovely (and for sale if your interested!) we had a great time! I’ve never experienced horse riding with Kangaroos watching me Thanks Graham and the gang at Burra Trail rides

Below is something called a “voicethread” it allows you to leave messages about something for others to read. I use it in teaching to get pupils to discuss… stuff. Now.. .I thought we could use it to say happy Birthday to an old man. The advantage of using sound and webcams being that he won’t have to find his binoculars to read the messages
