Gawd Bless you Ma’m

Gawd Bless 'er

Your birthday meant we got the day off! The UK get “The trooping of the colours” and here in South Australia we get Monday off – it’s always the second weekend in June; which is also always the start of the skiing season in the moutains. This year there’s even snow!! It’s all going swimmingly well πŸ˜‰

West Beach starting point

We weren’t skiing, OBVIOUSLY! The thought of sliding down a hill on two small, sticks has never appealed to me. We did however decide that today was the perfect day to go for one our mammoth walks. This time a 15K (9.3miles) stroll from the beach to the city. We started in West Beach; the place we lived when we were here in 2007 and followed the Torrens trail to the city – it continues on for a further 20 K towards the hills but I think 3 and a half hours of walking is enough thank you very much! It was a lovely day and a very cool walk with lots of things to see along the way πŸ™‚

Shag dries their wings

Baby swan!

There were countless birdies to examine. Shags (yes that is really their name) who were drying their wings all dramatically on logs, Sea chickens (That’s obviously not their actual name that’s what I like to call them πŸ˜‰ – their feet are way too big so the walk like a supermodel chicken strutting down a cat walk, one foot directly in front of the other strutting away – occasionally stepping on their own ENORMOUS toes), Swans – one pair of which had an ickle swan-ling with them “Ahhhh” and lots and lots of ducks.

Is this a likeness of Matt's Dad in the 80s?

Who lives in a house like this?

We stopped along the way to get some lunch at the Brick Works Market and were very impressed with the riverside gym πŸ˜‰ Fun outdoor exercise machines right on the river bank! As if we weren’t already moving our muscles enough πŸ˜‰ There’s also a bit of the river (which seems to be part of the Cooper’s brewary) which had some strange little sculptures on it. A man hidden inside a volcanoe looking like he’s about to blow it up, a water mill and another – less terroist like – man delivering barrels of beer with a cheery smile. Matt’s decided that a trip inside the brewary needs to happen with our next visitors.

Of course we ended our stroll with a very large Mug-a-chino and a trip on the train to our house! When we got to the station we had 28 mins (precisely) to wait so i forced Matt to share in a chair massage…. I bet he’s sooo glad he did ! πŸ˜‰

Back to work tommorow – hey ho! I’l be at Thebby for most of this week so i’m being kept busy and out of trouble – Good news for everyone! πŸ™‚

Here are the rest of the piccies if you fancy a look πŸ™‚
