Pies, Cauliflowers, 3rd Trimesters and Book Publishing…

Summer and winter are continuing to have the arguments that we like to label Spring.  It’s 29 and beautiful outside today.  I’ve even managed to waddle to the beach and back!  Three days ago, on the high ground at least, it was snowing! You gotta love Australia and it’s proximity to well… nothing but Antarctica   If the winds blow up we get cold if the blow down, we get hot!  πŸ™‚

I’ve purchases 3 summer maternity dresses so far.  I thought that I would be able to fit into my maxi dresses – my usual, non giant belly, non-maternity dresses… I was wrong!  I’ve now got a maternity, non-normal maxi dress and two dresses that look like the kinds of thing my mum used to wear when I was little.  Cloth, with a belt in the middle so you can pretend there’s a waist line.  There WAS one, I promise! πŸ˜‰ Apparently I look “very summery” – which, from an Aussie means… it’s not summer yet you know you mad English lady you!.  29 degrees = summer to me I’m afraid! πŸ˜‰

The pram, which was supposed to take 12 weeks to get here, has arrived and is waiting for us to pick it up from the store.  Thankfully there’s a thing called “lay-by” here which means that they will store it, in their warehouse, until we want it.  That also means that the warrantee won’t kick in until we take it a way.  We’ll leave it with them until mid-December i reckon and then we’ll have it just in case bubs decided to make an earlier than expected appearance.

He’s getting bigger, really, really quickly.  I have my next appointment with the obstetrician on Tuesday.  Last time I saw her, she was concerned that he might not be big enough.. now he’s big enough (and clever enough) to have worked out that if he stick his feet under that hard bit up there (my ribs) and pushes, he can stick his bum out… stretching my belly and making me look like I have a pyramid-shaped stomach.   Matt enjoys “smacking his bum” when he does that! – Poor thing.  At least I think it’s a bum!  Who knows! If he’s trying to ‘moon in utero’ he’s clearly a Woodward… πŸ˜‰

Emrys’ tree arrived last week too so he now has a beautiful (non-permanent) tree on his wall. We just need curtains and some pictures for the other walls now. I’d love to get some up-to-date shots of family and friends to go on the wall so if you would like to be included in Emrys’ global family send us a pic! πŸ™‚

I created a baby list on Amazon too so that I can get my head around all the little things that you need – some of which have almost the same price tag as the little things! Thanks to those who have already commented and told me things to add or take away πŸ™‚

In other news…

I have now managed to master the scone.  The first time round I was a bit disappointed.. Then I found Nan’s cook book!  Woo hoo!  Made them with her recipe and I was away!  Yom!  We had a scones eating extravaganza last week!  This week, a gift arrived from en8girl (who should get onto her blog – hint hint – then I might learn some stuff in time for my little one!) and in it were two more cook books. One for Matt, the Pieminister cook book and one for me called “vegetarian”.  Now, those of you who know Matt well will understand why he is currently THE most excited boy on the planet   He already spent 2 hours yesterday making pies – lol.  Bless.  I will eventually be allowed back into the kitchen to make more scones and to try something from my recipe book.  Eventually.

Oh yeah, Matt also managed to grow his own cauliflower.. It’s been eaten now but as you can see he was very proud of his home-grown veg!  He’d been defending it from caterpillars and aphids for weeks. I think he’s relieved that he doesn’t have to keep flicking caterpillars over the fence any more!

Apart from that, the Teacher Tech projects are coming along nicely.  The book has also arrived on my desk. AS AN ACTUAL BOOK! It’s here! in Paper and I  found an incorrect their/there/they’re and a full stop where it shouldn’t be! GASP! Thankfully it’s the proof so I can resubmit πŸ™‚ Once I’ve made a few changes, I just have to press a button and it will be available in the Amazon store in no time at all!

There’s another button I can press to make it a Kindle book too.  I haven’t pressed it yet. that will be a very exciting extra journey!

The app is finished. Or it was, then i0s6 came along πŸ™ So now Matt needs to fix a few things before it can go into the store. I have registered myself for tax in the US so I can receive royalties for the book  from Amazon and for GST (Goods and Services Tax – think VAT) so that I can sell the app in the Apple store. Hoops! Jumping! Thank goodness I taught in the English Education system for so many years πŸ˜‰ I’m an expert hoop jumper!

I’ve also no got THE most popular video post AITSL have seen on their teacher feature πŸ™‚ Woot!  So it’s all going well really!  Next step is to get myself started on my Masters so that I can work towards a PHD. I’m hoping that some of my brain will work a few months after Emrys’ arrival and I can study whilst I’m at home looking after him.  Sounds like a good plan but I know that those who have recently become mums are likely to be smiling knowingly and thinking… “good luck with that” πŸ˜‰
